The difference between sizes of speaker, along with how far the cone can travel, determines about how much air the speaker can displace.

The area of the speaker cone is a metric called "Sd" - teh cone travel is a metric called "Xmax" or "Xmech" - Xmax is maximum travel in a linear fashion, while xmech is the maximum physically possible travel with the woofer still in one piece.

There's a whole lot more science to it than sizes, frosh. But if you're here to learn, begin reading just about anywhere.
