O-Scope VS. DMM

had a quick question when settings gains with dmm and tone should i do it with vehicle running or off

people who set gains do you do it with the truck on or off. If you do it with it on at 14 volts for say 1000rms when the voltage drops from the bass you arent getting the full 1000rms right. But if you set it for 1krms at 12 volts when it gets 14 volts will it send more than 1krms but will it be clipped signal

I do it with the engine running, but with 0db tones 12/14v isn't going to matter because music rarely reaches the 0db level anyway.

Yea I am doing something wrong not sure but its a PITA I set gains a while back with a 50hz tone i have had for over a year. Well i had to take my amps out for repair work. So I went to reset gains and for some reason where i had it origianlly set at 57.7 volts its now showing around 90 volts for some reason. When i turn it down to 57.7 volts its hardly even turned up on the gain and not loud at all. Its really pissing me off I used the tones from ROE for wav and mp3 and used two different buring programs same result not sure. Kinda ticks me off. So either i am gonna say screw it or let a shop do it that i am taking my truck to get a alarm installed anyway.

Anyone ever had that problem where when using a dmm and after you set the gains its not loud at all
