yep hes right on same thing happens to my subs on like bass i love you song the notes where the sub produces no noise or sound just moves air and is a really low freq where the subs just jump up and down the back one pops only not the front one though the back one is messed up anyway makes a weird plastic knock noise on some notes

sounds like to me your sub is unloading.... and at certain frequencies with the volume being turned up you lose all back pressure on the cone causing the sub to bottom out and slam. Even with low rms subs will do this.

(not 100%) but im puttin money on it

no duh.... you filter is filtering out anything below your tuning... if you have it set right... so anything below 33 hz is not going to come through your sub...

so your testing of 25, 30 hz... ect isnt going to give you the answer your looking for.....

Thats why im saying your sub is unloading.... cause its not a hz problem..... its a mechanical dropoff problem.

where is it dropping off is what im saying. it's just fine at low frequencies (below tuning) so what do u mean?

Your box is unloading... I would need to listen to it... but I had a box do the same thing.

You dont have any back pressure.....

and when you turn your volume up... even at a higher frequency your cone still moves a distance... and depending on the box it will move less or more at a certain hz level...

So when you turn your volume up... even @ 40 hz your going to bottom out.

hmm i have no idea then. it does move quite a bit at 40 hz, but not too bad. i wonder why it does that...hmmm

BOX IS UNLOADING.... SO NO BACK PRESSURE TO KEEP THE CONE FROM GOING AS FAR DOWN... LOL

Sounds like an enclosure issue to me.

Either the box is too large, too much port area, or playing too below/above tuning.

could be lots of problems... to big.... wrong port... ect.....
