Now I'm really stumped

I've been having a problem with noise in my right speaker lately...so after trying to diagnose it for a long time i got sick of it and unhooked it. It still makes the noise. It is not connected to anything...i'm so very confused. The only thing I can think of is that the wire is barred somewhere down the line...Remember though...it isn't connected to anything.

SOMETHING has to be touching it. Even if it is the door, or plastic, or something, SOMETHING is touching it, unless it is in a strong electrical field that is stimulating the coils.

is the noise so annoying that it sounds like a TSK TSK TSK kind of noise? Because currently i am having that problem and i think its either my rear tweeters or my rear 5x7s.

I also think its a wire problem. The wire touching some part in your car.

OK, if the speaker is hooked up to no wires, it does not matter how much wire is touching the car anywhere, because the wire is not touching his speaker //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I think John got it right.

is the sound constant or only when you are driving? some type of mechanical vibration..when's the last time you had your brakes checked..hell if the speaker is disconnected then it must be the car or the mounting of the speaker to the car. remove the right speaker and hook it up to your house system or some other car radio and see if the noise is still there.

Well I've finally figured it out...sort of. I really wish I had some sort of video camera to tape this as it is almost unbelievable. I still don't know how to fix the problem either. Here's what I did. I disconnected the right tweeter from everything...as in clipped the wire about 6 inches from the tweeter. With the car on and in gear I can move the speaker closer to the right side of the dash...as the speaker gets closer to the dash it starts eminating the high pitched buzzing noise. I'm just laughing because in my mind this isn't possible...Now the only thing I can figure is something has an electromagnetic field screwing with the speaker...Now I just have to figure out what. So after all that time tearing out wires rewiring and regrounding junk this is what I found to be the problem...Any ideas on what to do?
