Novice needs guidance!

Thanks man. My head unit has two sets of rca output. a right left front output and a right left rear/subwoofer. However my 5 channel has 3 sets of rca inputs is this ok?

I have been researching online about having two pairs of rca preamp outputs on my head unit and 3 pairs of rca inputs on my amp. I would like to have my four speakers connected up plus the sub on my 5 channel amp. But I would like to have the rear speakers as fill and be able to control the volume from the head unit.In your experience would this be possible with what I have? Would rca spltters/y splitter enable me to do this? Is there anyway to add more rca's after the head unit before the amp.Like a converter? Or am I sacrificing functionality?
