not noticing much difference...

ok so i had an AQ sdc2.5 15 running off a kenwood amp getting "500 watts" last summer, then this past summer, i built a new box, bought another sdc2.5 15 an bought a AQ1200D amp to run the subs.. and i can honestly say it didnt seem to make it louder at all, i know its wired right (down to 1 ohm) i did change tuning frequency.. it was 38hz but new box is 35hz, other then that i cant think of why i didnt notice an improvement in output... well barely.

here are the videos of with just one and then 2 subs

YouTube - AQ SDC2.5 15 a little side window flex

YouTube - 2 AQ SDC2.5 15's off an AQ1200D

any ideas on what could be the problem? or am i just expecting too much?

ohh and electrical upgrades are fine.. i got a kinetic hc2000, big 3 done in 1/0 and a 136 amp stock alt... my voltage stays at 14.

hmm i dunno what to do then, cause i dont have more room, i utilized all the room i have, so i really cant add more cone are... but yet i want to be louder.. so im not sure what to do. im thinking i can get louder using several 8's or 10's cause they take up less room.. maybe like 6 sa-8's or 4 sa-10's or something, with more power of course.

double the perceived volume = 10db

double cone area = +3db

power about double +3.xxdb

lower tuning etc could reduce top end response/change your peak.

You are looking at +5 to +6 db of difference. More power might get you to the +10db point from the original system.

so say if i swap out the subs but keep roughly the same cone area, but lower tuning to say like 30-32.. but double the power ( or even possible more than double, i dunno how big of an alt i can get yet) im looking at maybe a 3db gain from where i am now, which is about 5db above where i was originally. basically i want the DESTROY the lows and move a ton of air. so i picked the wrong subs to begin with cause AQ's aren't really low end monsters (in my opinion)

what is the size of the enclosure cubic ft wise?..

could not get a good look at the enclosure from the video .Anyhow 15s need a enclosure that's pretty large especially dual 15s.You may have been better off running your single 15 in a new enclosure(depending on current enclosure size). What were the sizes of both enclosure?

nvm noticed your signature.

maybe you need to let the new sub break in may not be playing in sync.or you screwed up the enclosure .

my old enclosure was 3.5 cubes after displacements tuned to 35hz that was for one sub... my new box for 2 subs is 6.5 cubes after displacements tuned to like 34.5hz

one of the subs is a year and a half old and its PLENTY broken in.. the other is like 4 months old and should be fully broken in by now, so i dont think thats the problem

the enclosure im 99% sure i didnt mess up on.

i was looking at those subs before i got the sa-15's. dj told me that a pair of sdc 15's needed like 10 cube before displacement. maybe your box size.

sdc 2.5's are decent budget subs. they will handle around 800wrms. I ran mine at 1k or so for a while but the coil is a little dark. They have an fs of 30hz. So they can go low.

2 15's is equal to about one 21" sub

4 10's is slightly larger than one 18" which is less than what you have.

hmm it might be expensive but.. i could do 8 sa-8's..they only need .5 cubes each.. so thats like 4-5 cubes after displacements.. which i can handle easily... then i could get another 1200D and run then stapped to the 8 subs. ive seen what 4 of those subs can do, im really tempted to try 8

ssa15" xcon might work for you. They are comparable in efficiency to a sdc2.5 with 3x the power handling and a lower vas.

No chance with power compression and everything else taken into account. He's looking at possibly +6db from his first setup in an absolute perfect world. Chances are it's closer to ~4db. More power doesn't gain you much once you get to a certain point.
