keeping the amp gain low doesnt matter if everything else is high. If the sub out level is high and your gain on the amp soesnt need to be as high for the same output, your still drawing the same current. If fthe amp is creating the power, it is drawing the power, no matter where the gain is.

Well obviously I'd control my sub output too depending on the amount of current but I want my amp to see 8 volts of pre outs. If that is too much, I'll reduce the voltage.

Well I guess no one has a clue about the gain on the crossover so I'll go with what Squeak said. Anyone know where I can get a test tone?
