Hey all, here's my problem.. installed 2 12'' Kicker comp 4ohm subs 500w peak with a 1000w Planet Audio Anarchy amp and Boss 2F Cap and Scosche(cheap)LOC in my 2007 Honda Civic. worked great for a couple of days but now suddenly they barely hit. maybe 1/4 as loud at best.

I checked:

Capacitor-- working fine getting full voltage

Amp-- Powers up fine and obviously is giving SOME juice to subs, though my bro drives the car too i noticed he cranked up the input level allll the way so i thought maybe i blew an input or something. took the amp apart and everything looks fine.

Subs--tried different subs both barely work

Summary-- i think maybe its the LOC could that be the case?

Any help is much appreciated. thanks homies

sorry to tell you ,its prolly your subs/coils.you prolly cooked the shit out of them lesson learned ,dont let someone who has no idea what they are doing screw with your system.next time get better equipment too, you have pretty much junk here ,

Ouch.... but true

Okay, ( Subs-- I tried different subs) Not that I need to explain things to you genius, prodigal, whizzes..But when I said different subS

get a DDM and see what the out put from the loc is. Double check the gains on your amp and see what voltages your getting out of your amp. If your are getting good power from the amp then you know it is in the speaker for the box. Check the plug ins on the box that it didn't get hot and mess with your connection to the speaker. With your DDM check the coils of your speakers with set to Ohms.

If your LOC is good and the amp is low then double check your power and ground.

I will agree that LOC's are shotty so that would be my first guessing point, then wiring, then amp, then subs (if they're ok as you said).

But like mylows10 did say (but not using his words) the equipment is not top shelf. I can say that you could have done better with your money. Tell us what you thought you could acheive with your equipment so we can use our personal experience to advise and assist your situation.

He tried different subs to the same result. Rules out smoking the VCs. Way to be helpful.

OP. I would check wiring, phase button on amp and definitely the LOC. I've seen cheaper ones be bad out of the box, so after a couple of days it wouldn't be uncommon for one to have broken. Try a fairly expensive (45-100) LOC and I bet you get proper results again. Oh, also check fade on the deck.

Not just mylows, I've seen it 3x in this thread alone. Telling people to buy different equipment isn't always helping them. We are a community, not a bunch of critics.

Just to clarify something.

A 50 watt amp can "cook" subs. It is called user error, is not a testament to how strong or good an amplifier is.

Just wanted to make sure that part was clear.

Now with that said, go check your wire connections as that is the probable issue. Also double/triple check the amplifier and head unit settings.

The LOC could cause issues, but I do not see a reason to buy one at the price range suggested. Maybe if you had better equipment where it could make a larger difference, but in all honesty I wouldn't bother with upgrading that, maybe replace it with another cheaper unit to see if that is the case...or you can take your phone or mp3 player and use a headphone to rca wire and use that to give a signal to your amp to rule out the LOC being bad.

i would do what rabbit says and take your phone or ipad etc and run it direct to the amp and cancel out the LOC and headunit. If it plays well then you can go don the line of loc or headunit setup
