Not happy with my Alpine CDA-9885

At least he doesn't just make shit up to sound smart.....

But anyways this isn't a ***** fight thread... the guy needs answers....

Seems to me that I will need an EQ for sure to tone down the mids, I was very pleased with the Pioneer sound.
Suggestions for a new HU with iPod controls (or at least aux input)? I think I'm done with Alpine HU. I'm also done with Eclipse.
Sounds like Pioneer is the way to go for you then. That is the same reason after trying Alpine, Clarion and Eclipse that I have gone back to Pioneer for good.

I wasn't talking to you suckass. I think he can take care of himself.

Secondly, I wasn't making ANYTHING up. The word WARMTH is used to describe the sound of audio equipment. But I guess you wouldn't know anything about that.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I was not impressed with any of the new Alpine

the old Alpine F1 was SWEET but the newer stuff...naa

I ended up with the new Premier 980 ....it was a pain

in the *** to operate for the first few days but I love

the sound of it

haha 7998 is still a sweet peice of gear, and yeah man... it seems like yesterday I was getting in my 9835. Heck seems like yesterday I was getting in my 7949!
I can say though getting back my 9835 has been bliss. Just a stellar deck, if only she had fiber optic outputs on her. May contact and engineer buddy and see what he can do about that.

I really liked my 7949, if it did not have issues playing cd-r's I would probably still be running it to this day (had it paired up with a PXA-H600). I've had two 7998's...very nice unit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif ...I am borrowing my sister's right now till my CD7000 gets back from service.

Guess it comes down to personal preference, I feel the same way about Eclipse after trying out Alpine, and Pioneer. I do have to say though, overall the easiest hu's to use for me were the Alpine ones.

I agree. All audio equipment comes down to personal preference. The OP of this thread doesn't like the lack of warmth in his Alpine. He also doesn't like Eclipse either for whatever reason. Pioneer is probably his "taste".

He is complaining about the lack of warmth from the onboard processing, the deck itself should have NO warmth to it *LOL* This is solid state guy, not a mc275 or st70 tube amp. He mentioned useing the loudness, well he is lacking in certain areas frequency wise that suits his needs. He would be better off with a deck that has a decent amount of adjustability not just a brand name. Cd7000 or cd7001 would be a good choice, the 9835 would be great as well... or wait for the 9887.
