Normal? You tell me

Yeah, that sucks. My experience was similar with a BM shop locally.
I went in and ordered a headunit (JVC dvd player 3.5", 550$ on sale) and even scheduled the install a week later because they didn't have it in stock and they had to order it. So I go in on my install date and have the headunit installed. For some reason it's dirty, and one of the buttons was dented in (like it had been used too much). I go back and ask them why the button was bent like that, they told me because the one I ordered didn't make it on time, so they just took the one off the display rack.

What really sucks is they charged me retail for it, and didn't even tell me. And now I have a head unit that has been played with by probably a hundred people, and paid full price for it.

The worst part about it is I could have gotten the same head unit online for at least 100$ cheaper, but I went and paid retail because I like to spend extra money at local shops, just to help local businesses out (voting with my dollars in a way. rather the local shops have it than a walmart or a huge business). I'm not gonna let this bad experience keep me from doing that though. I just gotta remember to stay on the ball regarding my equipment (I shoulda knew right away when I didn't get a manual with my box).

and you simply accepted this?

ohh i would be furious i would drive much further to another shop.... File a complaint with the BBB there are many things you can do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

but what do you guys suggest i do.... Aaron is claiming he would never sell used audio and i dont believe he will take them back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

When stuff is installed, it gets mounted. When stuff gets mounted, straches are left. Look for scratches around the mounting holes. The xovers and the speakers should show signs of being screwed down, if they ever were before. Scratches on the top of the xover cover could mean anything.

Unfortunately yes. What else can I do? I guess I could demand they replace it with a new one when it comes in, I just don't want to piss them off because I have alot more work I need them to do =(.
Every time I've had a friend help me on an install something has gone wrong, and it's usually done pretty "ghetto". I'd rather have it done right, but yah, it sucks that they did that.

I also didn't mention that I brought in a 4 channel amp to install with the 4 indoor Memphis I bought from them, and coincidentally the 4 channel amp I brought in was broken, and they had already installed the indoor speakers. So I was kind of forced into buying an amp on the spot (because the indoor speakers woulda sounded like crap on the head unit, and they said they would have to charge me more if they installed an amp at a later date because it would be easier to do it all at once).

And then coincidentally, they didn't have any amps in stock either, so I had to buy a JL a4300 amp off the display rack too.

Yes, I paid retail for it also, and didn't get a box or a manual. When I asked for them they told me to go online and download a PDF. What's sad is this is the best shop in my town //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
So aside from doing sloppy installs, ruining your cars, selling you damaged display products at full retail price, refusing to do work as you requested, and knowing nothing about electronics or car audio, pretty good shop, eh?

It sounds like they know they have no competition and are sticking it to the customers. Time to roll some heads, bro!

+1, any marks that suggest it's been screwed down. if so, that shat's been used and he lied. i would demand a nother pair that was used or a partial refund for buying used.
