Normal for IDMAX to get warm...

Just got it, LOVE IT!! I have it wired at 1 ohm and have the gain at 2/5's power... after playin with it for awhile I THINK (not 100% sure, I am paranoid about protecting this sub) I smelled something. I went in back and felt the sub and it was kind of warm. Is it normal for a sub to get warm?

Actually, Starky (whom I bought the sub off of) said the box might smell b/c he burned up the pre-recone IDMAX in it...

So my NEW question is, is it normal for a box to smell like burnt VC well after the sub was blown in it?

i'm interested to know this too... the wire that is in speaker terminals on my sub are always dark after a while of playing (a month or so)... as if you held a lighter under it... i wonder if it's over heating or if it's normal for wire to tarnish after a few months... i always re-strip it anyways

Double check your wiring, when I first got my Ti, I did something wrong, I dont even know, and within 5seconds the sub started to stink and the cone was hot as hell. Im still not sure what I did wrong, but I still did something.

Anyways, I would take the info I gave you in yoru other thread and use that. if afte the recommended time period you re still worried contact ID or an authorized dealer and talk with them. No matter how smart someone on here is, they will never know more then the people who work with them everyday and those who design/build them.

I must stress carefulness and precaution though, no company will be willing to help a person get thier product fixed if the problem was due to neglegence.
