noobie ? abt installing jvc kd-s570

ok wait.... you connected both the remote and the ignition to the always hot wire? the remote wire shouldnt be hot unless the stereo is on..... and then the stereo powers that.

OK hook the red JVC wire to the hot when ignition is on. yellow to always hot. and remotes to the amps remote wire in. (if you don't have an amp then tape this one off.)

Well I was WRONG!!!!! I thought I had it figured out but I didn't. I put it all back together and went for a drive. The hu was working for like a minute and then just cut out. It kind of flickered like I had a lose connection. I check all the connections and they are tight. I'm sure I've got it wired correctly with the exception of the ignition switch wire. With the car off the battery is giving off 12.5 volts. The ignition wire was only reading 11 volts. Right now the hu will not power up at all. Maybe I need to just run a wire from the fuse box to the radio. Anybody know where to get a wiring diagram for a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant ES?

themainjam,

I didn't realize you had just posted. Ok the JVC has 4 wires to power the hu. 1. a yellow wire that is to be connected directly to the battery. It is always hot. It is connected right. 2. a black ground. I connected it to a chasis bolt behind the dash. 3. a blue remote amp turn on. I have an amp so that is what connected this to. The last wire 4. is the problem child. It's the red wire that's supposed to be connected to a switched wire from the ignition. I have 3 choices from my stock wiring harness. I tested them all with a multimeter with the ignition switched off and on. Only one wire gave many a real reading. But it only gave me 11 volts. With the car running it gave 12.5 volts but now the radio will not come on. Oh I forgot to check the fuses. I'll do that next but this is still kinda strange.

ok well just run a wire straight from the battery to the red wire and test it that way. run the wire the easiest way (out of the hood through the door and in the red wire) this way you can tell if it is the problem child. and if that dont work then hook both the yellow and the red to that wire and see what happens......

my guess is that the 11V wire has some kinda of restrictor on it and wont let it get above 11V so that why the JVC has a weird problem. just pull out the fuse and test. whatever has 12V throw it in there. (i dont like doing this either but if its the only way.....)

Ok I think I've got it!!!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif Like I said before there are 4 wires I need to hook up to get the hu to turn on. The only problem I was having was with the ignition switch wire. The wire I thought I was supposed to use was only putting out 11 volts. Well I found the main juction box for the cars wiring harness and started testing those for a acc ignition wire. I found one and just ran a short wire to hu. It seems to be working fine now. Thanks for all the help bro. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif Oh yeah all the fuses were good.
