noobie ? abt installing jvc kd-s570

ok im stumped as to why i have hooked up my h/u with yellow wire hooked to my constant 12v and my red hooked to acc switch and grounded properly, i have some? power current going to my detachable face unit but no display and no button functions? the way iknow there is some juice coming through is cuz the red LED light comes on when i turn the acc on\off but that's all i have

The first sentence is very confusing.

On my JVC you can load cd's, take the face off(motorized pop out) with out having the unit "on"

One of your wires isnt giving power, use a multimeter and check for current flow in both connections

sry about my grammar, just being sloppy. what i meant was i seemed to have everything wired properly (according to the jvc manual). i actually ran a wire from my one of my fuse connectors (the pwr door lock fuse/constant) to the (yellow) memory wire and i had some functionality for abt 10 mins (display, cd would eject, etc.) but then it stopped working and i tried for 3 hrs to get it right but i had to quit because i was just baffled. thanks for the suggestion, i will try it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

well dammit, i guess i found out what my problem is. i have a short somewhere on my h/u and it's causing me not to be able to see my display or have cd eject function. i have yet to figure out where exactly this is occuring since i have to squeeze around the front of the unit where the face attaches. any suggestions as to where i might begin or is it probably a lost cause? i doubt i could take it to a stereo shop and not wind up paying more to have it fixed than it's worth. say it ain't so! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bawling.gif.6287aa5d1d447c8af063fc9466e822ef.gif

you probably blew a fuse? ....

try taking it out and hooking it straight up to the battery. red and yellow positive and black to the negative..... some Hu require the antenna to be plugged in also......

no blown fuses, it gets power. i have a short around the front, i got it to come on when i would squeeze the front of the h/u and wiggle the detachable face but it won't stay on or it just won't do anything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/titanic.gif.8089b7552c370bcc138aa121756d0c0b.gif

Ewww...... try some rubbing alchahol on the contacts? maybe they are corroded... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif sorry we coudlnt help...

just a follow up on this post and themainjam was right, blown fuse; i didn't bother thinking about looking under the hood and checking the fuse box by my battery. i tried hooking up my original factory radio and it pretty much had the same deal, no display/no button functions and i wondered if maybe there was a fuse link on my wiring harness in my dash. i looked at my owners manual to see if there was such a thing and there i found that there was a fuse for the memory under the hood. i checked it and of course it was blown. so be sure to consult your car manual and check the fuse box under the hood! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Hey guys I've got a similar problem that maybe someone can help me with. I've got a JVC with the 4 wire hook up: black-ground; red-ignition switch; yellow-battery; blue-amp turn on/power antenna. I checked all the connections with a multimeter before install. On my car the stock battery lead (hot) is red. I connected this to the JVC harnesses yellow lead per the instruction manual. I connected the JVC harnesses red lead to a stock yellow lead. This wire showed 11 volts with a multimeter with the key in the acc position. The blue and the black wires were no brainers. The problem I'm having is that when I turn the key to the acc position the radio will not come on. I can hear the amp turn on but the head unit will not light up. If I start my car then the radio will work fine. Can I just use the remote turn on lead for the amp to power the head units acc lead? Thanks for any help guys.....

Hmmmm sounds like JVC is really touchy about its power wires.

you may have blown a fuse like this guy ^

but i have always just ran a straight wire to the battery for the yellow.... mostly because pioneer uses the yellow wire as the amp power wire also //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

also 11 V is really low your battery should always be at about 12 when your car is off and 13.5 when its on.

so try pulling it out and checking the power wires again. you seem to have it correct but just to make sure yellow is to always hot. and red to hot when acc is on. (just to make sure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

let us know if this helps.

Yeah I'm thinking the 11 volts is the problem. I'm not sure why that wire only produces that much. I've never had problems starting my car. Like I said it works fine with the engine running. I'll go test some wires.

Well I tried switching the ingnition wire for the hu. I connected it to the remote turn on for the amp. It worked BUT the radio stayed on even without the key in the ingnition!!!! Knowing me I'd probably run the battery down with it that way so I switched it back to the original setup. I'm thinking that's the right way my battery is just a little low. I don't have a high power system that is drawing the battery down it may just be old. Oh well it works for me now. Thanks for the help guys.
