welcome, got any audio stuff ?
Yeah, sorry I should have mentioned that. I've been doing the audio thing for almost 15 years now.
Unfortunately a few recent occurances have put me in the position to put some of my gear up for sale. This does not mean in any way that I'm leaving audio.
Anyway, the system I was putting together for the car but is now going on hold consisted of a bunch alpine gear (3 pdx amps, w200 and 701 combo). Subs were and still maybe Phase Aliante 12s. Front stage was a Hybrid Audio L6/3 combo with Rainbow Cal 28s for the top octave.
Here's a group shot:
The home system is 2 channel PC based. The front end starts off my laptop and runs wireless via airport express or directly usb to digital converter to a heavily modified (upgraded PS, ADC and DAC cards) Tact Audio 2.2x room correction system.
The Tact devides the signal between a pair of Martin Logan subs and the high pass goes to a pair of VMPS RM30 ribbon speakers. The speakers are verticall bi-amped by a modified Carver ZR1600 (tripath class D) amp for the midbass drivers and a pair of Class A 50w tube monoblocks (to the ribbons).
Anyway, I let go (or am letting go) of some of the car gear so I can keep the home rig and take care of my other finances.
Here's some pics of the home rig.
Excuse the wires, I was just getting things moved around //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Here's the VMPS with the waveguides removed.
The RM30 is a 4 way speaker. The 8" ribbon mid is crossed at 270hz and 6900hz with the tweet picking up from there. The bass section has 2 6.5" active mids and two 6.5" passive radiators (bottom port). Each of the passives have non hardening putty so that it can be removed for tuning the mid-bass to the room. Lastly, there is a side firing 10" sub in a separate chamber. Amyway, they're a lot of fun.
Thanks for letting me rant and share pics. Hopefully I will be able to share my next car install with you all.
