Noob question, please help

OK i have 6.5 CDT-HD62 up front in my jeep grand cherokee, and they are running off of a US400x amp. For some reason when i turn up the volume to 20-24 (max volume is 30)) they sound like they are gonna pop, i havent touched any of the EQ in the indash Tv or my iPod, it doesnt give me clean sounding bass once i pass 20 volume. i mean there are certain songs that sound incredible but some not to good. any help would be appreciated and if the amp adjustments are too high please let me know where they should be set to for these speakers.

Sounds to me like you are simply overpowering them.

Try turning the gain down some and see if that changes the problems you are having.

Could also be that you have too low of a highpass on them. Where do you have them highpassed?
