noob needs single sub setup thats simple and economical

So I need some advice on what w our be best in my situation. I don't really have the room for a dual sub setup in my Honda prelude So I think my best bet would be a 12 or 15 inch single. I want something that can really crush though. I've found jlw6 12, Memphis mojo 15, kicker l7 15 all on craigslist for sale in my area. Any recommendations on that?

I think I'll just get a simple single ported box off eBay.

Will any monoblock amp with high wattage and rms work? How much rms should I be looking for? How do u tune it to get really low lows? Any help is greatly appreciated. Sorry if my typical noob questions have been asked a million times

whats you budget?

also its better to just get a custom one built yourself. Hell go to lowes by a sheet of wood and have them cut it for you and all you would have to do is screw it together. also will probly be cheaper then ebay also.

A prefab from eBay will not give you low lows.

The W6 is a sound quality sub

The mojo is a bit of both

Tune L7 is garbage.

I doubt you have room for a 15.

How high is your budget? If you want to stay stock electrical 1000 watts is as high as you want to go.

smh... the L7 is not garbage(at least the 2006 model isnt), it may not be as good as some other subs but its not garbage

Cut one open and see what you are really getting. Add that to the fact they have no excursion and need rather large boxes.

Let me guess, you think soundqubed is crap to right? since they are known to have "crap" softaparts? or any of the other top brands that have lines with issues such as the sundown x line that alot of ppl complain about, or how the newer DC recones have a pretty high fail rate. Doesnt make them garbage? i know really that its not a fair comparison with the L7 vs the "big boys" but im just saying any sub, brand ext can fail, have issues, or have certain components that sux.

He never said anything about wanting a high excursion sub, he said he wanted something that will crush(loud). The L7 is capable of getting loud, good sq is another story however. But they can sound decent given you put them in the right box. My wifes L7 15" in her focus was tuned at 40hZ(to keep the kciker happy) but would play down to 32-33hz just fine and wouldnt bottom out. im not really trying to argue but they are in no ways garbage.

The motor is actually not that small in comparison to other good subs in its price range, no its not a Dc XL, or HDC3, but not tiny. it has a 2.5" coil, my subs have 2.5 inch coils. Your point?

Have you ever taken the cap off? It's not just the width of the coil, that's only one aspect of it. And is yours the old one?
