Noise Gates, do they work

I have a full alpine system with JL 300/2 front channel, 30/2 rear channel, 500/1 sub and Xtant 100/1 center, I am getting slight alt. whine we I am using the DVD moives, noticable because the low volume on spoken words etc.... Supposedly the JL's have balanced input, all the grounds are to one senction, and I observed all Ground Loop Possibility problems. Will a noise gate work or should I just buy a Ground Loop Isolator or lower the gain levels, I used the JL gide for setting the gains so I know I am not gained too high!
