noise coming from the speakers

when i start the vehicle i hear noise that probably comes from the engine

the noise is there even when the RCA's are disconnected from the amplifier

it's a small amp 2x35rms on a 8 guage cable

If you have noise when the RCAs are unplugged, the it most likely is a ground issue at the amp. If you made sure you have a good clean spot to ground to, then consider using a temporary wire to ground your amp directly to the front battery. You can simply just run it outside the car to test and see if it resolves your issue before you actually run it through the vehicle.
