Noise coming from kicker L7 12" sub....?

Ok, I have a kicker L7 12" sub that I was trying out today, and the sub makes a mechanical noise. I checked both voice coils with a multimeter, and they both came up around 3.5 ohms, the physical movement of the cone reveals no rubbing or points of tighter movement. I figure its got to be the coil, but just looking to see if anyone has any other opinion. It still gets loud, but if you put stand next to the driver and not in the car, you can hear distortion.

I havent heard one that didnt have mechanical noise

Using a PDX 1000.1 to power it, about 1/2 gain with subsonic filter set to its highest setting which I think is around 20 hz. I have the same setting on my DD 1508s and they are fine with it, had a W7 on it as well with no problems.
