No rears?

OK, so I have been searching for come new speakers as of late, but I came to a stop today. I hear a lot of you guys talking about not running any rears? Do you mean to not buy anything for the rear and just not have anything back there period? I am rebuilding my whole system for SQ this time for I need some help here!

So when I have rear passengers, how will the music sound to them since there will be no speakers back there? Also, how will it sound for me, as the driver? Will it still sound as if there is still something back there or will it be better?

Define SQ to you. Are you concerned with stage height, etc... or just loud and clean sounding? You can do loud & clean with rear speakers, but not a true SQ set up as you'll pull the stage back...

what car? how often do you have back seat passengers? honestly i dont have anything special, just polk momo 6.5 inch comps up front, and until i tell my rear passengers they dont have speakers they dont notice. itll sound absolutely normal to you without rears, maybe even better.

if you have an SUV or something then i might consider it if you are that concerned about rear passengers.

if you HAVE to have rears just buy some 6x9's, power them off the HU and call it a day. that way youll be able to invest in buying the best fronts you can afford.

This is something I was skeptical of once in my life, but for a true SQ setup, limiting the rears is essential. I still have some rears in my SQ setup, just for what is referred to as a little "rear-fill". That's my personal preference, though.

If you have rear speakers in there already, just leave them. Fade your headunit to the front, as long as you have 3 rcas for front, rear, and sub. It will take a little getting used to, but the music is clearer.

As far as your rear passengers, it will sound a lot better. Do a little test. Leave your speakers balanced and sit in the back seat, then have a friend fade it to the front. It sounds much better with only the front. Having a speaker a foot away from your head doesn't create very good imaging.

Also, the placement of your front speakers will have a large impact on the imaging. I don't know what equipment you are using, but if you are installed coaxials, then you will not receive the benefits of no rears.

nothing back there period...remove the rear speakers so your subs can vent into the cabin area
Word....

Also think about it... if your poundin pretty good, that dash is gonna bounce up and down...even more so with a little weight from the speakers....it's not good for the speakers..

I also HEARD that the pressure from the trunk, pushing against the cone of the speakers in the back dash is not good either...dunno if its true though

I was a doubter too. I took the rears out and won't ever go back. When I get into someones car with rears it really sound odd to me.

I gave up my rears over a year ago btw. No need... Ultimately it is up to what you want your system for.

becasue i have stock headunit still i have my subs off a line-out converter on the rear channel and my comps in just the front doors off a lint out on the front channel. so it works out easyer and i can fade to speakers if i dont want bass becasue my girlfrif complains some time.
