basically is a costco, just wqal-mart owned. anyways, i got turned on to x2power by mistake. loosing another optima yellow-top while i was at work (remote minesite), my wife bought "the yellow top" she knew the only place i get new batteries, as i know the owner of the batteries plus, here, and had them put it in. at first, i was thinking "great, i wasn't going to buy anymore optimas for more than $50" then, i got home and checked it out. then, i was thinking "wtf is this 'x2power' yellow top?" well, i put it to work for a few years, and it has been absolutely awesome. well, a couple weeks ago, i paid another visit there, looking to just snag another for my sonoma, as the optima yellow top in there was about to explode, and got the full run-down on x2power. keep in mind, this is the guy who sends me to other places to buy the same stuff he has for cheaper. the story behind them is that the 2 guys that started the company(apparently not long befor i got my first one) used to work designing orbital batteries. they were, lets just say unpleased with the way orbital had them design the batteries, and started their own line with a few improvements, biggest thing applicable here is to fulfill what they were lacking in the audio/mod scene, and durability. they have anew rating that really applies, which they call something like "hpa, or hot pulse amps" which is a rating of how many amps it can provide for 5 seconds without dropping below 11.8v, iirc. primarily, cranking amps/cca ratings are not really voltage limited, and can be at 7v, or so. this, is a rating we can really relate to, as voltage=power, under load. as far as i know, and what is claimed, is that no other batteries in the same group can come close. obviously rating a d8 battery against a 76, or whatever automotive is not a real comparison. i ended up picking up a "blue top" x2power for my tahoe and slapping the yellow top in the sonoma the next day, since they had to have it delivered from the valley. i also fully plan on testing how much it can be dragged down later on. right now, the biggest thing i have is a soundstream x3.71. i should be able to extract almost 4k, consuming over 400a off battery power alone, once fixed...unless i find a way to upgrade it with ease. i plan on seeing how long it will hold that at 12v, and how long before it reaches the 11.8v. then, i'll do a review, if i can fit this in my plans..
