alright you can all flame on me (stupid me I didnt look first) I went out and bought 2 legacy 10's. they sounded okay at first with my first box which was like 1.5 cu ft with 2 3in ports, but I put it in a vented enclosure now all the sudden they dont give any bass (or so it seems like) at all, they move but you can only hear it when the trunks open. Both setups powered by a sony xplod 800w amp cause Im cheap and want something quick. the box is 27x20x9 with a 16.25in length and 8 on the other length, its 4.5inches tall (which Im thinking thats the prob) so could anyone explain whats going on or what? yes I know legacy and sony xplod **** I already know

It depends on how you have it wired. If you have only ONE pair of wires running from the amp to the enclosure, and then have the wires split internally, then you will need to get inside the enclosure and swap one of the subwoofers positive and negative wires.

If you have TWO pairs of wires running from the amp to the enclosure, one pair (pos and neg) per subwoofer, then you can simply swap the positive and negative wires on the amp terminal for one subwoofer.

The other replies are correct: if this is your problem, you will notice immediately.

welp I think I found the problem. I hooked the battery up to my charger (my battery dies overnight for some reason) had the car on and the system on as well and everytime the bass would hit even with the battery charger it'd make the engine slow down a bit...so Im thinking its the battery or alt...so I dunno what to do yet...but see when I had the system hooked up before it would run just fine but dim the lights and all, also could it be possible that using butt connectors on my speaker wire it could be killing the sound?

lol yeah, Im thinking about buying a used alternator since Im a little...okay alot low on cash and I dont wanna run my credit card bill any higher, plus I gotta buy a clutch which is like 170 etc etc so, I guess I'll go bass-less/low bass till I can get a HO alt.

you could also put a small wire with the power wire on your amp and run it to a toggle switch and then to your rem on the amp and just turn it on manually with the toggle switch
