nissan tacoma 6x9 alternative

my cousin is looking to replace his speakers in his truck. he has a weird factory setup with 6x9's in front with 6.5 in the rear. I was wondering if it would be at all possible to replace the 6x9's with a 4x6 plate speakers I feel that would be a better replacement than a 6x9. for the 6.5 im not sure what brand to replace it with.

what would be his best alternative to replacing his factory speakers and what brand?

he will be eventually adding a sub to his setup but im not sure if he wants to run an active 3 way setup up front or just sticking with a passive setup. im just looking for ideas on what to suggest him cause when he adds the sub he won't have much room for airspace for the sub

In my titan it is 6x9s up front and 6.5s in the rear. I just made adapters for both and I have 6.5s up front and 6.5s in the rear.

for some reason im not to fond of 6x9's, but since its ID I will take that idea into consideration

That is the typical reaction to the 6x9's. The advantages outway the disadvantages and ID will to this day state the XS69 is the best midbass in the line. I run them in my comp car and in my daily driver. Matter of fact people who have heard my car are looking into modifying their doors to make them fit. great info. I found them for $440 is there anywhere cheaper, what's the sound quality like, I read that they are the best? do they seem to be bright and reproduce music well?
