Nissan Sentra Radio Installation Help

Ok, I've got a 1995 Nissan Sentra GXE and I'm having trouble installing my aftermarket Sony unit. I believe I have connected all wires correctly however the unit doesn't appear to be receiving power. No noise, no illumination, nothing. I have checked all fuses to no avail, any help and suggestions as to what i should try next would be greatly appreciated. I can get pics of what I'm dealing with when I get off work around 3 or 4. Thanks guys.

Any meter or test light to verify you have power and ground?

yes, how should I go about testing that? Also, I forgot to add the previous system was also aftermarket and never worked either.

Another question, how many grounds should I have? As of right now I've only got the one black one that travels through the harness. Also, where should this be ground? I assumed it didn't matter as long as it was properly secured to a clean metal surface, however upon further research I've found that many people have a ground connected to the back of the unit itself via a screw. Is this where mine should be or are there more than one? Thanks again.
