For starters I've been a nextel customer for the past 5 years. Never had a problem with them what so ever. I decide to upgrade my phone to a moto i880. After the first 3 months the screen starts to form hairline cracks from the spring loaded flip that slaps it down when you close it. A month ago the screen flipped upside down. The display flipping is a very common and known issue. I figured since the repair centers were all out of parts and I didn't want to send it in I could deal with the issue for 3 months until my contract was up. Well, friday night my phones screen decides to not only flip, but turn completely white. Great, right? Maybe they will fix it since they know this happens to these phones all the time anyways. Wrong.
On my plan I am paying for insurance on my phone. The service centers will not fix my phone in store, nor replace my phone since the screen has the hairline cracks. The only way to fix the blank screen is to replace the entire flip part anyways. Secondly the insurance is useless since the phone is still under warranty. Another money making scheme by nextel/sprint. I have to send my phone into moto to be fixed which would take 8-10 days, this is without a loaner of any sort. Who wants to be without a phone for 8-10 days? Or, I could pay 55 dollars on top of the 5 dollars a month for the past 5 years that I've been paying and get my phone fixed in 2-3 days.
So, if you plan on getting sprint or nextel, don't. They have horrible service and will give you a run around for 4 days before you come to the conclusion that you are a broke student and can't afford to accept anything besides free incoming calls anyways.
