Newb to this forum! figured i would say hi and show ya what i have.

my electrical engineer professor would disagree. I noticed the difference from none to the two i currently have. i'm sticking with them.
Disagree with what? I didn't make any claims, and if your saying they would disagree with the information in that article then they'd be disagreeing with basic math...

Caps aren't useless in general, they have their purpose and are vital for many electronics applications, however in general the large caps that they sell for car audio purposes are not really that beneficial. You should send those articles to your professor and have him actually read them if he's even interested in that sort of thing. Most of my EE profs probably couldn't care less about car audio stuff.

i just asked him in general so thats probably why...and yeah he doesnt see the purpose of a subwoofer in the car. Old people.

all i know is that i noticed a big difference in output and lights dimming after i installed them.

It's called a band aid bro. I'm not ripping on you, or your use of caps. If you want to use them go ahead, but these guys are right. Caps have their purposes, but there are cheaper, more efficient ways of running your electrical without dimming.

But hey! Welcome to the forum!

everybody has said how bad they are....but nobody has yet to offer ANOTHER SOLUTION!!! how should it be ran then?

and yes a gen couple is in my future...but not till 2012 when they upgrade the motors to the gdi and the 2.0 theta bumps up to 280 hp

But definetly willing to try something new, my current setup is getting old and needs replacement (in all aspects haha) Suggestions/comments/questions are all welcomed!!
O rly?

I like what you've done to the car, all but the exhaust. It just looks too gaudy and awkward. You don't drive a WRX; don't try to make your car look like a rally car with the tilted exhaust.

Something like this would be much classier, with the tip tucked up closer to the bumper:

And about those caps............................

Edit: Is that chin spoiler off a Mustang?

i've ran an xx colossus ( original 41-42" long one ) daily on only a yellowtop under the hood and an 80 amp alt.. never dropped below low 13s
pics & vids or it didn't happen.

OP likes using the caps.
It's his vehicle, he can haul a bucket full of dog shit around if he wants to...
What would he want to do that?

Here it goes again, ****ing trolling on some guy who's just being nice to show what he has. Did you guys came out of your mom's ****** with full knowledge of car audio and how electrical systems work? No one has offered him any setup advice beside "lolz caps" and "tard", if you like trolling them go to eBaumsworld and die like those retards.

only1db what these people are trying to say is you're better off with a 2nd battery in the trunk wired in parallel to the front battery instead of having capacitors. The reason why you see less dimming is because the caps are doing their job - stabilizing voltage. However a capacitor also needs to be recharged so you'll probably notice a drop off in bass volume when you play sine waves or music with constant bass, and if you play that for extended period of time then you'll notice that your idle voltage is much lower than it should be, just like a drained battery.

However your setup won't pull enough power to justify a 2nd battery, so basically people on here are being assholes because you're new and they default you as retards. I've installed a 5 farad cap in my friend's 2003 Accord and while I really don't care for a capacitor, my friend did say the bass seems to be fuller and no dimming, it could of been a placebo effect but I rode with him in the car many times and the stereo seems to work as perfect as it can be all the time. Keep those caps until you upgrade to over 1000 watts RMS, then ditch those caps and get a battery instead.

Get off your high horse prick, I offered him two very educational links about why capacitors are useless //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
