New Uneducated Roommate...

Yea I hear you, and the W7s are great subs, no doubt about that. I am just not impressed by any JL product because of the price, but used prices are great. I heard the W6s last night, and they were alright. I mean he said his gains were down, so maybe thats why they didnt impress me, but they didnt sound anywhere near the iDMax I used to have or the Arc Flatline. I am gonna talk to him about getting a ported box built, it is currently sealed, but my iDMax was sealed and my OZs are sealed as well, so I am basing my comparisons off of spec sealed boxes.

oh, yeah i agree pricing is outrageous, i would never pay retail i actually got both mine (w7s)for 500 each new.....with shipping so yeah it was a lot but better than 1200 each......got the w6s for $400 each from a shop.(still a tone of moneyz, i know but you win some you lose some.)

thought you would be impressed when you did hear it.

i know that the 13 moves a considerable amount more than the 12 think its like 60% more or some crazy number.......but usually people cant believe that they are w6s when pound them.....i also have the correct box, all my hole filled with expanding foam and 200sq ft of deadner to help but even i was and am impressed with there over all build.

Yea I seen that before, crazy. I mean it could be something is tuned wrong, or his gains, or I know his deck has 2 volt preouts, but all that shouldnt matter. They pound pretty hard, but dont sound as clean as I thought they would. And geeeez, thats still a lot. My boy has a single 10" W7 in his GTO and it does sound great. It is the only other set up that surprised me like my iDMax did, clarity wise. But of course he got it for $100 on CL. So thats a deal I would jump at.

Bahahaha, are you serious? They are alomst the exact same material... The outside coating is a little different, that is it. Makes no sense to be mad, cause you overpaid... All, MLV is anyways is a noise barrier... Many things can be used for this.
I think you are a little confused.....MLV is nothing like camping mat. Now CCF is.

It shows you know what MLV is for, just too bad you don't know what it is. Closed Cell Foam is a decoupler, which would be your camping pad, and which is why it is so cheap. MLV is not cheap for a reason. And I would like for you to find me a cheaper alternative for a noise barrier than MLV, that does the same job as MLV.

I was going to go JL until I joined here and was steered towards Sundown and AudioQue and I am very thankful that I was because my 2200 watt rms amp was only $300 and my subs were only $194 new and sound amazing even tho I haven't heard them in my new box yet but that should happen friday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Oh, well maybe I got those mixed up, my apologies. Regardless, I would never pay what second skin wants for that stuff, when there has to be alternatives. Especially since it is in a lot of newer cars.

Has he heard your system yet and if so what does he think? I think people get biased based on there own systems to make the price they paid seem worthwhile.
I think 90% of car audio fanatics think thier equipment is better than everyone elses. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I by no means feel my system is better, but I like the sound better, to be honest.

I was going to say that I didn't know of any camping mat that was roughly 1 pound per square foot. I'd like to see someone hike to the camp site carrying that around, lol.
