just for 5hits and giggles...i used to have a rf powert1000bdcp, i must not have had the electrical for because it stayed pretty warm. i now have a apsm1500 and it only requires a 100amp fuse, as opposed to the 150amp the rf required. the sundown also requires the 150amp but has the on-board fan, will this make a difference for me? i will be powering 2 d2 skar audio ma-8's, so about 950wrms from sundown, the @ apsm 2ohms is 1000wrms???, is it worth the upgrade-$525, or keep what i got? i do have big 3-0g, knu kca 0g to amp and ground, optima redtop under hood. not a lot of space battery wise that's why not yellowtop. unable to find h/o alt for my 08 dodge caliber. would there be a significant difference between the two?

You could find a used sundown (older models) in the classifieds and have a huge upgrade over the ap for far less than buying a brand new 1500dv3. Personally I would never shell out that kind of money for 1500 watts, but they are solid amps and will outperform the ap and last a lot longer.

the only reason i like the 1500v3 is the fan, hoping to keep it cool. and the older sundown 1500's us more fusing, don't they?
With a good heatsink a fan isn't needed. The new sundowns have a fan because they are made to be more compact hence the need for a fan. If you're concerned with drawing too much current, simply go down in power. I doubt you need 1500+ watts for a pair of 8s anyway. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

point taken, i am trying to acheive the power needed at 2ohms as opposed to 1ohm, that's the other reason i was looking at the sundown and got the apsm. thanks for you input, i appreciate the quick and knowledgable advise.
