Painting is next on the list of things to learn how to do for me.
I love it, it gets addicting for me and I just get the urge to paint everything imaginable just to make it look sweet. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

That's what i'm afraid of. The cars will be a different color every couple weeks. I really want to pick up a spray gun and a new airbrush, now I may have to look into it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Its insane how in-expensive it really is to paint a car. Even an entire car, not a full color change paint job, but just a redo of a color you can get away with around 50 bucks in basecoat to do the whole thing. With the other materials your looking at under 200 bucks, thats not bad at all imo for brand new paint //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

My S-10 will be high-builded and hand sanded for hours before I spray it, Im shootin for a gloss black with a good amount of clear and a wetsand.

My Cougar will be the same color as stock, maybe some flake or something mixed in with it, and then Im respraying that.

Im excited for the summer ahead //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Deal, you just need a compressor that can give me about 16cfm @ ~30psi //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

isn't that the truth, when I started I wanted to paint everything LOL

sick gun, I got a cheaper one from Harbor Freight, it works great but the plastic cup sucks so i ordered the metal cup. Clear is defintely something tricky to get right. I just shot some HOK Kosmic Klear for the first time today, it shot very nice. The only problem i struggle with is I am not in a booth so dust does fall into the clear.

But I am just like you in a way, I want to paint everything, but mainly to get better, I am still new and am learning how to fine tune the different knobs to get it to flow right.

Best of luck with the new gun

Yeah thanks man. Im in the same boat, I was using my entry level gun which hates breaking up clear and got some dust in it cuz I was spraying in my garage. Nothing a little wet sanding cant fix //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif 1000/1500 grit, then 2000 and polish //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

With the new gun and the proper spraying area Ill be able to lay out a nice base and clear with no wet sanding hopefully.

thats the problem i have. I wetsand but can never bring back the shine. I have a buffer that i use polish on but I am mainly painting trim pieces and they are hard to hold and polish, any tips?
