thats the problem i have. I wetsand but can never bring back the shine. I have a buffer that i use polish on but I am mainly painting trim pieces and they are hard to hold and polish, any tips?

Yeah wet sanding tends to dull out the clear, if you wetsand with 1500 and 2000 and then use 3M clear coat safe rubbing compound and then polishing compound. Finally a good coat of wax after the paint has fully cured, which shouldnt be until after ~30 days iirc, depending on the product.
