New Speaker System for my truck...

I've got an RE XXX 12 on the way that's going right behind my driver's seat in a ported box, powered by a eD ninE.1, in an 03 Tundra Ex Cab. Next step is 100 sq. ft. worth of eDead. Everything else, interior wise, is stock. I need 6.5" speakers.

Now I'm in the market for some speakers! The XXX12 is going to be up and running soon, and I need some speakers to match/keep up. I've got $300 to spend for the fronts, and I'll upgrade the rear speakers later. I don't have a head unit, and I'm going to buy a 4-channel amp to match based on what speakers I buy.

If I got XXX6.5 mids, what else would I need besides tweeters? Could I "build" an XXX component set for $250?

Anyways let's sum it up:

-$300 to spend, max

-Just components for the front right now, rears I'll do later

-Music: 65% rap, 35% modern rock

can't build up I don't believe but for three hundred...wide range man. You can go Alpine Type-X's, MB quart PCE's (highly recomend), Polk/Momo components (I have these and pound with bass!), JL Audio VR, etc. Knock your socks off...I would go with either the MB or Polk...Go Polk since you just want to spend $300.

Well I was looking to do the Group Buy for RE which would set me back $180. That would be for 2 6.5" XXX midbass drivers. Besides tweeters, I would need crossovers, correct? My question was, after spending $180 on the XXX6.5's, how much $ would I have to spend for some decent crossovers to complete it?

Anyways, keep the suggestions coming for the best 6.5" components under $300.

Check out Morel or LPG for some nice tweeters. There are many nice ones that you can grab for under 100/pair.

But, a good crossover is going to run you ~$100, if not more. So right there you are at $280 before the cost of the tweeters.

Another option would be to buy a headunit with built in active xover (such as the Pioneer Premier 860MP, Alpine 9833, Eclipse 8443/8053/8454, etc) as long as they'd allow you to get the xover points you need.

Also wanted to make sure you understood that the XXX mids + tweeters would use up all the channels on that 4-channel, since each speaker would need to be on it's own channel.

no i think he just means xxx 6.5"s with a cheaper xover, so that hes not up to 280$ with just the speaker and xover.

How "urgent" would it be to pick up some tweeters? Would my stock ones work ok for awhile?

Watch the depth in the front doors. You got about 2" in the front doors(if i remember correctly). Some people have moved the window track back to get more clearence, but im worried about stress on the glass/motor so i'm waiting for long term results. http://www.tundrasolutions.com =teh best site
