The basic idea is that the outputs of the components react differently with different impedances at different frequencies and capacitance with resistance etc... So they optimize the specs for different things...

Like the Nordost cable is really good on Arcam and Classe while the Straight Wire is better on Rotel and B&K stuff like that….

Check this out and read some of the tech papers and such... Makes sense to me....

Anyone can spit a crapload of theory, but in the real world these difference usually aren't noticable. They just make good marketing. As long as it makes you happy though, thats what counts.

In any event maybe my ears ares super ears like some people. I have heard similiar crap spewed to me and then when they go to so called "prove" it to me, I don't hear any difference. Thats why I think it is all placebo.

I think there are much better investments than "cables" to put good money down on. One of them is spending money on things that keep my woman happy.

But for an active preamp, who really cares? You have enough gain to pretty much drive any sort of interconnect RLC figure, and even if it was critical - I bet I could find cables for cheaper that measure exactly the sme and therefore "sound" the same //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I've read enough about passive preamps to know that where you're coming from is documented stuff, but I'm not sure how much of it applies when you have gain to spare. And regardless I don't think it's worth that kind of money vs. homebrewing your own.
