New Rims on the Monte

man, i wouldnt do any dumb shit to the car, esp. (is this ok to abbreviate?) a wing, or Graphix or anything. I liked the inserts and wanted something to match the car.. if thats played out in your opinion I would hate to hear your take on all black rims.. I cant afford to get a set of rims powdercoated, or painted and maintained. everyone knows something will chip over time.. so i can afford the upkeep on inserts..
as for the black to tie it all in, the tint, windows, head and tail lights will all be black, as well as the tires and "shadows" between the spokes.. I dont wanna look too patchy..

as for the 2tone... yeah i know it will look like a 5-0 car.. with the sunroof cracked it will look even more like it from a distance.. thats only making the townsfolk drive safer.. they'll put down the cell phone, and slow down.. Not a bad thing, if u dont want ignorant as sdrivers flying by you..
I actually love black wheels. That's my favorite treatment. I know the no-chrome thing is a very personal taste, and most people disagree with me there. I'm all about simplicity though, and inserts just take away from that to me.

As for tying the black in, I think it will look much patchier if you don't get some black paint on there. It might work if you do a black-over-white two tone with a nice pearl paint. Otherwise, I would paint the inserts white, and stay with normal heads and tails.

Im not big on all black rims on ANYTHING except an all black car.. I know somethings look nice, but on most colors the all black seems outta place and unmatched.. I have been thinking either 2Tone (favorite idea) or some black stripes up the hood and trunk lid.. i just dont know if I really like it enough to do it on my car.. on a mustang i would, or viper.. but not my monte

at least i didnt do this

I plan on the colors being triple black gloss, over Bright white.. with an ice pearl in the clear.. a little blue hue in the sun.. sort of a light mother or pearl look, with heavy gloss.. should shine like glass

diff colors, but this scheme

See, I think that would make it look a ton better. I think the black paint needs to touch the blacked out lights to give the car a cohesive look.

As for all black wheels, I should clarify. I only like it on dark-colored cars that have paint jobs with some depth. But I prefer darker colors, so my preferences are slanted that way. On lighter colors, I actually do like a dark gunmetal as long as the paint used is of good quality.

But I will be doing black wheels on my Mazda3 next year. Repainting it to a two tone candy green over pearl black, and throwing on some black '09 Mazda RX-8 wheels. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

yeah man, im not gonna throw any ol paint job on it.. i want it done exactly following the body lines, and smooth flowing lines that wrap around.. no points, swoopz or slashes..

Same here with the black rims.. I think they look right on a neutral color car... silver is fine.. but NOT all black wheels on a stock blue car. that looks out of place..

Mazda 3's are nice cars.. and candy green is a gorgeous color.. I am a man of serious contrast.. and i lean more towards bright colors.. candy orange on pearl white (Go VOLS).. silver on red..

You might llike th color I have on my car now. Burnt orange pearl with matching painted rims (the wheels are a bit too much for me, but they came with the car and look better than the stock silver crap). I would keep the orange and go with a two tone so I didn't have to repaint my stockers to use as winter wheels, but I want to drive my car more than just the week of Halloween.

post pics now.. I love the color orange.. I would rock it ANY DAY OF THE YEAR. before I actually bought this car i was wanting a Black monte, and wanted a tangerine pearl 2tone on it!!!!

but sadly, this car was white, with black interior.. so I settled for white and black paint.. White, so i wount have 2 strip interior and all to have it painted proper.. and black because most accessories are available in black, its a sexy color overall, and it matches my interior

I will take pics for you tomorrow in the sun. It's dark as hell now and I don't have lighting to do it justice.

But to hold you over, here is a pic of the same color on another car.

I like it too, but I'm more into cool colors, and it needs new paint soon anyway. Has a little surface rust on the rear quarters (probably less than the size of a dime, but too much for me) from all the salt they put on the roads up here during winter. Plus your average wear and tear nicks and such from being on the road for a few years. I'll probably be investing in a clear bra at least for the nose to avoid that on the new paint.

I'm actually surprised the previous owner didn't wash it often enought to prevent the rust. He took really good care of it other wise. Paint is in very good condition for its age, interior is in great condition (although I do need to clean it again). Kept up with scheduled maintenance through the mazda dealer. Oh well, that just means I have decent reason to spend thousands of dollars on paint (Project Mantis, here I come).

yea, mines got nicks in it and stuff.. it happens..
i really like the orange tho dude
Thanks man. If I had two, I'd keep the color, but I like blues and greens and purples more than reds and yellows and oranges, so I figure I might as well do what I want now. I had crappy cars for too long for me not to take this to its full potential

word.. I have about $700 more and my exterior will be finished minus paint work, but i think i can get that relatively cheap.. i figure most cost will be acrued when buying the paint/parts.. and i know my guy wont charge anything crazy for labor, seeing how we used 2 be neighbors and i always helped him for free with anything from picking up his yard to hauling body panels and sanding
