New RE MX and XXX Prices!

This is what gets annoying about this place....

While I asked the question whats up with the MX? You know like whats it specs, niche, market space??? Hows it fit into the RE line as compared to the others...

The only person that attemped to answer it was told he was wrong, so the question wasn't really answered...

Then Starting right after my post we have had atleast 5 more pages of B.s. with everyone dogging on each other about who is on some mystical bandwagon and how a W7 Compares to the XXX or other RE designs....

The new RE drivers are not out yet, so none of you (aside from maybe RE personel) knows how it compares; it reality that is, not on paper....

Sorry, all the bickering and bashing just gets old.... Its almost like reading WWF instead of watching it....

Can anyone in the know tell us about the MX? David, sorry for the petty nonsense here can you explain???

To add.... a lot of you might want to consider taking a few business classes to understand how pricing is determined for products.

There are many factors such as supply/demand, r&d, overhead, advertising, profit margin, so on and so forth to name a few.

One can say JL spends a lot of money in R&D, Advertising and Marketing, Website development, Sponserships, some of which (not including R&D, but i would say a lot more is spent by JL then RE) RE does not have to divulge funds to.

One can say RE does not have the brand, money, power, economies of scale to purchase supplies to manufacture subs at the lowest cost possible that JL could/would.

Being that this is a "NEW" sub design, with new materials by a company such as RE, who has almost no advertising/marketing (COMPARED to JL, it's real small) thus explains the reason for the MARGINAL increase in price. Stuff happens, production gets delayed, yada yada, COST go up!

Had JL developed something "NEW", lets say they created the "NEW" XXXs, you'd expect to fetch upwards of $900+ for the sub, they have the BRANDing to do that and get away with it. They would treat it as the DVD players, or Plasma TVs when they first came out, not as extreme, but it would be at a premium, since you can't get it elsewhere. EDIT: BUT believe you me they would spend a few PRETTY pennies to MARKET the HELL out of it, adding to the cost.

With that said, i feel "A" marginal increase in RE's price is justified based on the fact that they are a "small" company, limited budget, limited branding, limited purchasing power, who developed a "NEW" sub design that, to my knowledge, isn't being sold anywhere else.

I highly doubt RE is making a "KILLING" by "gouging" prices.

So if you got it, and plan to get it, good for you.

If you don't got it, and want it, stop complaining, and start SAVING!!

Now with all that said......this still doesn't explain why we haven't atleast received some TS Params....

lol, all the refanboys. 650 for a single sub that probably wont even have a warranty and you wont be able to get support cause they are always too busy for their customers. lol, just like david watching this thread but will answer none of his previous or possible future customers , lol.

I'm fairly sure skeqtikal was out of line with that statement -- not just that the mix up of some technical terms looks bad... Considering this is a RE thread this does *not* belong here in any case.

Considering we haven’t even officially released updated info on the mid yet, even hints at information to any upcoming products is not necessary at this time…

It doesn't exist outside of a computer... It should have never came up and I left a message with skeqtikal explaining this.

Leaking information is exactly how things get out of control. What was mentioned shouldn't even be taken with a grain of salt... We are still mulling over the idea that a sub with that much xmax is just stupid and are considering going with a more realistic high value subwoofer that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to buy... There are too many possible scenarios that can happen and changes that can be made that nothing he said is necessarily representative of what will happen here over the next few months at Ology Audio...

Hopefully this ends here...

The argument then was that the current version (the old version now) XXX would perform similarly to the W7 at a fraction of the price. Look at the price of the w7, 9500 series... the top notch subs in the mainstream... look at how much they cost.... look at how they perform...

i can get a 9500 for alittle over 4 and a w7 for alittle over 5.. this would be from the companies them selves, and this isnt even a discount at all. just a general price and still 100-200 less than the new RE line.

Now consider this thing has ateast 2" xmax or whatever the **** it is...

When i first came onto the forum most people bashed JL for being over priced and you could find a better sub for the price for instence RE. Well if those prices hold true it seems that RE has taken the JL sindrome, were popular & people are willing to pay cause we have a good rep. lets over price. Seems like if all this talk comes true in about 6 months to a year we will be saying the same thing about RE as we do JL & recommending a "new" company.

I'm just not in that type of financial situation to spend 2 weeks of pay on a speaker.

it would be a months payment for me, haha

most of the people who buy RE products are located ont he net, most of us dont make alot of money. so I doubt its going to be a blast off with the prices they offer.

for all the people that keep comparing a W7 to a XXX etc. etc.. comon people when did it become wich sub is better then the other. last time I looked it was all in the install. didnt know if i bought a $1000 woofer and stuck it in a pre fab box i could outbeat a $250 woofer in a custom box:crap:

if its SQ ur going for then thats alot of money to pay.. even the W7 is alot of money just for an "SQ" woofer, but like it was stated earlier, anything over 140 isnt SQ n e more. its just NOISE!
