what do you guys think i should upgrade?

i wouldnt use AMD.

I used to be an amd fan until they fell back in technology and Intel surpassed them...

Intel's dual and quad core line all use the same socket. Find a board that can support both dual and quad core core 2 duo and you'd be set for a while upgrade-wise in the future.

why do you wanna upgrade? do u play games? what do you want to run faster?

i would add another gig of ram either way.

if you are trying to play games then a new video card is what you need. my pops got an 8800GT on newegg for $70 last week. assuming you run 1024x768 then it would be fine seeing how it's 256mb.

my vid card is 512mb...and i have 2 gigs of ram not 1 lol..i think it's time to go intel...
lol just because your vid card is 512mb doesn't make it good.

9600gt's only run 64 stream processors, an 8800gt runs 112 which is almost double, trust me, you will see a difference.

only way i'd go above 256mb card is if you run a res that is higher than 1024x768, i currently run a 22" LCD so i have a 640mb card.

not worth it to go intel if you already have an AM2 setup, just buy a high end AM2 chip and your set as long as your current motherboard is stable and has the features you need.

I wasn't trying to brag if that's what you were thinking..you think the brisbane 5800 would be suitable?

Keep in mind that AMD's mATX motherboards are not incredibly reliably when used in conjunction w/ their 125W TDP motherboards and, given ECS is pretty much the lowest of the vendors, I wouldn't look any higher than the 89W TDP 5800+/6000+ ...

not really. I am pretty sure the 45nm chips are the last for the socket 775.
