the mods are necessary, and those that have not been here for three years are still helpful (squeak and hagop). what about a succession system? you can only be moderator twice and then you pick someone that is responsible and you know will do the shit right.

I think it should like a ballot. A combination of existing moderators, and each moderator can pick one or two people they feel eligible to add to the ballot. So it would be comprised of 10 moderators, and the 10-20 people the moderators nominated.
