Below is a response to an email I sent the WSP about what the new rules are for exhaust. Be advised that this is a bunch of crap.

This message is in response to your e-mail.

Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 46.37.390 states in part, “. . .(3) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the engine of such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the vehicle, and it shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle not equipped as required by this subsection, or which has been amplified as prohibited by this subsection. . . .”

RCWs are only amended/changed once a year, following the end of the Legislative Session. Most amendments are effective 90 days after the Governor has signed, unless there is an emergency clause than they may be effective immediately.

few enforce it.

Ive been pulled over for illegally modified exhaust before...The police officer saw the rear window of my truck was tinted dark, so he used this BS law to pull me over to check the tint on my side windows...I was legal.

Most cops won't pull you over for exhaust modification.

i've been stopped before for bs laws. ft. collins, co: it's illegal to carry a lunch box down college ave. back in the day, it was a rich neighborhood. they made the law to keep the blue collar worker from walking to work through the"priveleged residential neighborhood". i was in a halfway house off college ave., and got pulled over for carrying a sack lunch. i was arrested for "obstruction" when i refused to comply. this is another law in a long line of abuse of power.

did you happen to live in Berlin, Germany in sayyy..... 1942?????
