New Kicker System

This is gonna be my first system and im not trying to go over the top with it, just trying to make a little noise //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. So i have an 88 GMC Jimmy and am determining wether or not to go with a sealed box, or a ported box. Some of my buddys always say go ported, but my cousin who knows alot about cars said do sealed since theres already enuf air flow in the back.

I want to put two of these in

Kicker 10C104-2-SUBS (10c104_2subs) - 10" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix

I already know what amp im getting and its enough to over power each sub by 15, which i heard isnt a big deal if the amps tuned right. So set that aside.

Then i need a box that can fit in the back along with be enough cubic feet, so what are some suggestions on that.

And finally what kinda wiring kit should i get, i dont think i need 0 since its not an amazing system, so maybe somewhere between 0-10 for a decent price.

The more help, the better, appreciate everyones opinion.

Thanks =)

- The Kicker Comp isn't a good sub. You'd be better off with ONE decent 12" or 15" sub in my honest opinion. Something like the DC Level 3, RE Audio SE or Audioque SDC2.5.

- Overpowering the subs by 15 watts is nothing. In fact, you could power two of those Kickers with 1,000+ watts with no worries if you know what you're doing.

- Two 10" Kicker Comps will need 2.5 cubic feet sealed, or 3.5 cubic feet ported (That's for the pair)

- 8 awg wire will be fine for a little over 300 watts.

What amp are you thinking of getting?

How much money are you going to spend?

Answer those two questions and I'll point you in the right direction.

100% agree get one good 15.. DC level 3 wwould be perfect.... Also what is the amp your buying? I really hope you dont say pyle or anything

Well...it'll make some noise.

If you're set on those subs and If you want a little noise quick fast cheap and in a hurry you can simply find a prefab sealed box. Going ported wont do you much justice unless your box is built correctly.

Next look at these

Car Audio Wire

Car Audio Wire

both 4 gauge and will be good for that much power

Now if you're not looking to spend too much 4 gauge is fine, but its always better to get thicker wire than you think you'll need. Once you start building systems you'll never be satisfied with one for too long, and if you already have 0 gauge through your car changing setups is a lot easier down the road

Sony 2/1 Channel Amp 1000w, and i dont need to impress the whole time, just to please myself, and as funny as this sounds i have a lightning audio 10" in a home stereo sub box, along with it being hooked up as a door speaker, and ive had multiple people offer me 200 for my system till i told em how it was hooked up, and it wasnt even worth it, so i think the kickers will be fine, i was also looking at 4 guage wiring for about 30 bucks, and im only wanting to spend around 200 bucks so far the subs along with the wiring i picked is like 120, so looking to spend about 80 on a box.

i would suggest building your own box with that 80.. get a design from someone on here or on the free design thread and build.. thats the only thing i can really suggest with that budget and how much are you getting that amp for?
