New job offer...

So I work for Marriott's luxury division of hotels. Hilton called me yesterday saying some of my contacts over there said I would be perfect for a position they had, told me to come in. I go in today, met with all the suits and they made me an offer...all in the same day. Very weird, interviewing for my job now took 5 separate interviews over 2 months.

Progressive, eager company who has done research on their candidates and makes a decision based on experience before they call? ....or just hiring fast to fill the spot? thoughts.

If they make an offer like that, I would haggle for better pay and benefits/vacation.

Unless it is greater than a 15% increase in pay, with all the same benefits you are getting now......I would decline, or come back at them with a counter on wage, or better benefits.

Its a hotel manager position. pay is about equal, but I'm relatively young and still in the business of making contacts for the future. Its also laying foundation with a new company...which is both good and bad. Hilton is an extremely hard company to get in with, so that is factoring in. Still considering, but a change of pace would be nice as well. My current company doesnt want to see me go, so...unburnt bridges can be crossed again. Theres huge sacrifices if I pass up the offer, theres huge sacrifices if I take the offer. I'm young and financially established, think I'll roll the dice.

Otherwise I will always wonder what could have come

Counter offer was made the day they made the initial offer. Just waiting to hear back from them. Money im not so worried about as everything else that goes into this is a huge plus. The opportunity cost of losing a little $$$ and having a better quality of life; no brainer.

I think im going to accept and see where it goes. If it *****, I'll know for the future and come back to where I'm at.

Tell your current employer you want a raise cause the hilton is wanting you.

My directors were made aware of the offer within hours, told me to keep them in the loop.

I gave them a good heads up so if I walk in to their office and say I'm leaving, they have had the time to think up a nice counter offer...or smile and wave goodbye?
