so, i got a car recently and i want to put a system in....in my dad's car are my old mtx thunder 6000 12" subs (250rms/500peak)..i got myself a pair of new 6.5" infinity reference 6012i 2-way speakers (60/180) and for the back another pair of infinity, 9602i 6x9 2-way (100/300)....now, i plan to get an amp for the subs and an amp for the 4 speakers inside....this is where i need help with....i want to do all connections myself and all i need is some directions as how to go at this....i have the RCA's of the amp that is powering the subs....now the subs are being powered by an MTX 250x amp which i thing is a 4channel amp and i was wondering if i could use this amp for the inside speakers since i dont want to max them out,,,only the subs are going to be maxed out....if someone can guide me through as how to connect everything i think i wont have a problem....advise me of what materials im missing(wiring kit and speaker wires i guess)...i appreciate your help

thank you...

ps. i already have the deck installed, its a mp3/cd player with the RCA's o/p cables in the back....im ready to go at this...

thanks again

alright here's what your gonna need for wiring man.

*4 guage wiring measure how long u will need

*16 guage or 14 guage speaker wire either is fine

*4 guage fuse holder and about a 150 or 100 amp anl fuse

* get if you get dimming DO NOT GET A CAPACITOR , read up on here and do the "BIG 3" Please don't be stupid like some of the stupid rich kids on here and ignore what me and everyone on here will tell you when not to get a cap believe me we know what were talking about:).

* if you do look into 1/0 guage wiring or 2/0 wiring for the BIG 3 you will learn more about that when you read up:).

a few q's: whats the 4 gauge for? the 16 and 14 gauge is for the 4 inside speakers? how bout for the subs....and for power cable that comes from the battery? do i really need to do the BIG3? cuz my dads car doesnt have it....

let me know if this pics show something i need....the pics are from my dad's car....thx

You'll need both of those. The left picture is your power wire with a fuse already on it. You'll connect that to the distro block in the right picture. Then a power wire to each of your amps from the distro block. If you read around, you can find full instructions... or DL the manual from MTX.

I think your amp is a 2 channel... You might consider returning the 6x9s for the back deck. For me, they didn't add anything...they just made me feel like the music was coming from behind me not in front.

4 guage from the battery to your amp, and 4 guage ground wires. 14 or 16 guage speaker wire, for inside speakers and subwoofers. and a 14 or 16 guage wire for your remote wire. and no you do not have to do the big 3 but if you have dimming issues, that would be one option to cure them.

how about a pair of JBL GTO937 6x9" 300W 3-WAY ??

the infinity were an auction in ebay which i decided to loose....cuz im going to buy a new pair for the back....throw your suggestions every1...im looking at 100-150$US range....thanks

i got an amp that distributes 250watts rms x2 at 4ohms....500peakx2 totally a 1000watts...so that is enough for my subs...now, i bought a 4 to 8 Gauge Kompression Fuse Distribution Block, is that enough? or do i need a 4 to 4 gauge distribution block in order to run my amp?

thanks

if you are gonna run 1000 watts or so, go with 4 guage to 4 guage. those amps will want the power. best rule of thumb i can give you is always use the biggest possible wire the amp will accept. so if the amp will accept 4 guage, give it 4 guage. they make it that big for a reason. but yeah i would go with 4 guage to 4 guage d-block.
