new hubble pictures

so if were so miniscule and none of us matter anyway why do you go to such lengths as to put a system in your car, black it all out, and put rims on it? assuming the car in your sig is yours..... if we all dont matter theres no point in doing all that. right?
if we all had the attitude that we dont matter, wed all just sit there and die now.
What is wrong with having a good time while given life?

Just because humans don't matter, that doesn't mean we cannot enjoy ourselves.

There is no God, we are not living for anyone special - because, WE are not special. We are just living creatures living in a tiny speck of the universe.

Why do all the hubble pics look like paintings?
I watched a show on this. Because color is added later on by a man who makes a living doing this. The data is sent to him and the picture is originally in black and white. Some of the data includes what molecules are present in masses in the picture. He assigns these molecules colors (i.e. H = green, N2 = red). So the colors in the picture may not be the actual color.

There's a big difference in being non important in the big sceme and chosing to do things that are important to us. The point is satisfaction for oneself.

So, we could be dead already, and we don't even know it?
It's like sealing a fart in a jar, puting it in a time capsule, and letting your great grand children savor it decades later.

Deeeep
No, that's not what's being said at all.

The objects being photographed are a long, long ways away. Images are formed by light of various spectrums being processed by our brain. Being that these objects are so far away, it takes a long time for the light to reach us (or whatever camera/telescope is being used); the light we are seeing now was actually projected towards the direction of the camera (or our eyes) millions of years ago, so whatever we are seeing is the state of that region as it was when the light first began its travels millions of years ago.

Objects that are local to us, on the other hand, are essentially current events, as it does not take long for the light to travel such a short distance.

lol@ you for responding to my idiocy.

man.. people say there is no other life out there show them a picture like this..

and that is 1 picture 1 part of the universe, so its like that x1000 on all other views..

amazing to see the galaxies like that, theres been life and way smart than us, dam..

when you look at the sun, your acually seeing it 5 minutes later.

The sun could explode, and you wouldnt know for 5 minutes, Providing the sonic solar shock didnt kill you first.

The distance from the Earth to the Sun varies because the Earth's orbit about the Sun is elliptical. At it's closest, the distance is 91,402,000 miles and it's farthest distance it is 94,512,000 miles. This gives an average distance of 92,957,000 miles. Light travels at 186,282 miles per second. Dividing the average distance by the speed of light gives 499.01225 seconds which is 8.3168708 minutes.

Rounded off, let's say 8 minutes and 18 seconds.
