Hopping to get a little help. I have hooked up many systems in my own rigs. Recently set up my daughters car and it's an aggressive beast. Have a similar system that in my tundra. Also a beast.

However, I have a little Honda Element for travel and I tried to hook up a system last week. Having troubles.

Alpine deck with 2 pre amp outputs (rca). Kenwood KFC speakers in all 4 doors and tweeters in the windshield posts powered by an 800 watt kenwood amp. Sounds great.

Ran my punch off the pre amp subwoofer rca's to a banpass box with a single 12" fosgate sub. Should be more than enough to start with in this little box of a car. However it sounds terrible. Out of tune. Scratchy. Absolutely no pop on the double bass. Does not even hit at all. Just sounds like muffled trash. I have tried to reverse polarity. Rewired everything. Made sure it was tuned right on the deck and no better. I pulled the pair of kickers out of my truck (that absolutely beat you to death in the truck). And sadly they sound just as terrible in the element. What is the heck am I missing. What am I doing wrong. Any ideas.

did u try the other sub in car? may just be sub is dead..
