hey i have the massive audio p3000.1 connected to a yellow top in the back and a stock battery in the front, connected with 0/1 guage and 0/1 guage running to the amp. with the gain at a lil more than 1/4 bass boost on 0 settings on the head unit on 0 and when i turn it past 14 the amp goes in to protect it even does it when i have the headunit on -10. some people say its a voltage drop but it does it some times when the bass doesnt even hit hard. any ideas?

-thanks again-

Agreed - voltage. 2ohms on that amp should be fine.

A few issues here. First, are you using a HO alternator? Cos you're gonna need one with that setup. Seriously. That alone probably accounts for the voltage drop. And a serious drop will send the amp into protect.

Second - do you have an isolator on the second battery? That could also lead to a drop in current, dramatically. Again sending you into protect.

So first thing I'd try is disconnect one battery & try it. If still trouble you probably need to upgrade the alt.

Here's what you need to know about that setup -

You can't just throw that amp in & expect a stock electrical system to keep up. At full tilt it's probably pulling 140+ amps. I doubt your alternator can make that much, not to mention power the rest of the car at the same time.

If you're serious about using it you'll HAVE to upgrade the alternator.

Ironically, adding a second battery without an isolator actually makes things worse.

i was always told that a isolator wasnt needed only if i play my system with the car off. the weird thing is that when i have the subs connected seperatly in each terminal(each seperate amp) i can turn it up and no prob but they dont sound that good. but when its bridged(internaly) it goes in to protect. also can i keep my yellow top in the back and get one up front or get a kenitic in the back?

But when it's on, the alternator's trying to charge both - bad juju. Plus you're ******* the juice with that amp harder than a 300lb southern woman eatin' chicken wings.

EDIT - there are ways to make that work, but not the way you're doing it. Get the alt. Ditch the 2nd battery. Have a great 2007.
