I am looking to add 4 6.5" speakers to my pontoon, Need advise on pairing up the speakers to a 4 channel amp. What size wattage amp do I need for what rated speakers?

Im not wanting to break the bank, but 2 pair of those polks would fit the budget good. What size of an amp would I need to get optimal sound out of them? I want to run all four speakers

So how do I know what size amp I would need for speakers. What wattage do I look at? Say I go with a speaker that is 180 watts/60RMS each speaker, I run 4 speakers, so that would total 720max watts/240rms. So would I want an amp that is 100wattsx4??? What would be ideal.

you dont need 4 channels you can get a 2 channel that puts out 100-120 watts at 2 ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif or a 4 channel that puts out 50-60 rms x4

This amp for example says its a 100x4 amp. It does not say if that is RMS or max. Is the size of this ok? Im not wanting to put alot of money into an amp, as its on my pontoon. If I put too nice of stuff on it, im sure it will disappear! Not like it will be locked in a trunk!!

I personally have those same polk 6.5's in my honda. great sound for the price.. I belive they are rated at 60w rms so dont push more then that per speaker. rite now im running a 4ch @55w rms to each and they sound great with no distortion. polk audio's amps are also marine certified which is a must on a boat!

the Polk pa660 is a great match for those speakers, that what i ran before switching amps due to wanting to brand match between speaker and sub amps.. dont be afraid to buy used which may be your only option for a pa660 (ebay) GL.

i agree with this over the pyle crap, but still think the pa660 would be more satisfactory in rms terms.. if OP were to use the 330 it would only give em about 30-35w rms each speaker. the 660 will give 75w rms to each.
