new head unit

almost bought the pioneer avic-n4 the other day but i was thinking that my gear selector handle would be in the way of the screen while i was driving. so i dont know if thats the best deal. and yes i know i would have to do a mod to the n4 to play movies while driving. that was the only deal. i drive an 02 deville and am not worried about loosing the beeps which is a common problem with replacing the factory head unit. anyone have any suggestions on some just standard ipod ready head units?
