New Focal Polyglass vs. JL Audio XR?

I'm looking at replacing my stock speakers in an '03 wrangler. I think I'll replace with 5.25" components in the dash and soundbar in the back. I plan on retaining my stock head unit and power the speakers with a JL Audio 300/4. I'm looking at the new Focal Polyglass 5.25" coax or the JL Audio 5.25" XR coax. Anyone provide some input on these? Unfortunately I cannot find a store near me that carries the Focal's, but I did find the JL's and thought they sounded pretty good. Thanks!

first off ill be totally honest by saying i really dont kno much about anything...but then again in not a dumb ***...i have the JL XR 5.25 components aswell as the XR 6.25 in my truck running off a JL 300/4 and they actully sound awsome...they play extreamly well over all the bass i have pumping in there...but thats just my opinion....i like mine!

The JLs do sound nice. I like them. Never heard the Focals. Im not trying to be an *******, but i am speaking from experience. Be careful putting a system in a Wrangler. My dad had a system stolen out of a wrangler a few years ago. They are very easy to break into, even with a hard top. I would still go for it though, but keep in mind, an alarm would be a good idea...Anyway, back to the topic...The JLs suit my listening tastes really well. Even though they are usually overpriced for their performance, the focals are very high as well. I would say, go for the Jls and enjoy.

P.S...JL amps are very nice and clean w/good xovers. Good choice.

in wall most focal stuff sounds bassy but thats how the x over is it is actually designed for a car (unlike many others) and yes i have heard them even installed bad they sounded pretty good. i would prolly give the nod to them if i could stand that lively of a tweeter but i dont.....i say its a toss up

i have the 6.5 polyglas componets and love em! the tweeter(imo) isn't all that harsh and the mid bass rocks! as too the jl's..i have only heard them in stores..and they sound good as well....not quite as bassy as the focals though(someone above me said that)...either would be a good choice...but i'd pick the focals...

good choice of amp! and take the advice..get an alarm!

No, he works at a marketing company who is one of the Northeast distributors for Kenwood, Focal, Monster Cable, and few other Home Audio companies. My discount is below dealer cost, MSRP for the 165v2's is $400, I'm getting them for $118.
