Well, I received my Eclipse CD8454 today and it looks great! I know it isn't new but maybe the title would tempt people to read my topic.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The unit itself is in great condition. I am very pleased with the purchase.

I have a few questions though.

ONE - I am getting the alternator noise (at least that's what it sounds like). You know, that whine when the system is off and louder as the car is accelerating. I have tried numerous ground points and I have even tried moving that little noise box as far as I can but it didn't seem to make a difference. Where did you happen to ground the deck at? I have always used the mounting screws that hold the deck and haven't had any problems in the past. Any ideas?

TWO - Why does my sub volume seem to be SO LOUD when the volume is really low? I mean, it just doesn't seem right at all. I have tried changing the settings on my amp (gain, bass, etc) but it just seems to get louder if anything. I noticed that when my system is cranked up and when I turn the volume down my sub seems to still be just as loud as when I had the volume up. Kinda weird IMO. Any ideas on this?

Other than that, I can tell from the get go that this deck has so much better SQ than the Pioneer setup. I actually believe that if I can tweak everything right then it may be just as great as my CDA-9835 was!

I am just annoyed by this whining noise and the fact that the sub is so loud when I turn the volume down still.

Unfourtantly whine is a common problem. When I had my Mitsubishi Eclipse I had no whine at all. When we reinstalled the system to my new car Hundie Elantra, The whine came. Got a better ground and a new battery but still have a little. Turn up the volume a tad and its not a factor. That other problem you have though is a strange one. Don't have a clue on that one.

LOL. I checked my RCA's today and I did have the sub's RCA's on the wrong set. LOL.

I had them on the fixed output. I put them on the low set and worked like a charm.

Man, I feel like a noob now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
