New Models are the 7124 and the 7104, which is what im asking about.

What happened to them over the old ones? the 8122DVC are on Ebay for $250, saying that retail was $400.

The new ones are seeling for $140-$190 already, and saying the retail is much lower.

Is it as good of a sub, anyone hear it yet?

Its down 100w RMS as well to 400 (probably to match the JL W6v2)

Actually, before they were called the 8122DVC they were called 88120DVC //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I had the original 88120DVC's (four of them) and they were awesome //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif

As for the new 71XX series.....sorry, can't help you there. By looking at the specs, it looks like the 9100 series is a hybrid between the old Alum's and the original Titaniums. But I'd say the 91XX series bears more of a resemblence (spec and feature wise) to the old Alums than the 71XX series does

there are multiple aluminum lines now, this is because they must have seen the advantage of the cone material and wanted to use it in more than just the one line so they must be expanding some, but there should still be the top end one that is a step down form the Ti's

Yeah, the 73xx series is 'aluminum', but it doesn't really count :p

Any idea why the seemingly large price drop?

maybe to get more people to run eclipse, they have long been viewed as a top end company and I think some people have felt alienated by that, so they have moved on to others due to price,

so maybe Eclipse is trying to reach a wider customer base now, they already make almost every piece you could ever need

Some more stats between the two:

8102DVC (4+4)

Power Handling (RMS/MAX): 500/1000

Fs: 26Hz

Qts: 0.47

DCR: 4.0/coil

Vas: 2.10cuft

Xmax: (one way) 1.20"

7104 (4+4 to make them even)

Power Handling (RMS/MAX): 400/800

Fs: 32Hz

Qts: 0.58

DCR: 3.8+3.8

Vas: 0.85

XMax: (one-way) 1.2"

What does that equal to in real-life ability (if anything)?

General rule of thumb: Divide Eclipse claimed one way by 2.

That really has no bearing on the comparision between the two subs, which is what im looking for. The Xmax of either sub is actually the least of my concerns about them.

The 8100 will work in sealed or vented enclosures, and the 7100 should really stay in a sealed box.

I am curious, now I want to hear the 7series

Well, if you want to buy a couple 10's, and then send them to me a week after if they are good, maybe we can set that up! :p

I just want to figure out if I need one and run 600w into it, or get 2 and hit them with 300w each. Hopefully it matches up well with the 8100, so I only need one, and its cheap. I have no question that it will be a good sounding sub. I really hope that Eclipse didn't leave a large gap between the 7100 and 9100 series, as the prices one can find indicates for now.

I still have my 8810s and I would rather run them instead //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif
