Hey playas! Im new to the forum..just here to gather information and start working on the system in my GTO. It's an 06. I'm wanting to install:

JL Audio 500/5;

Kicker L7 8in sub in the rear;

Audiocontrol Processor;

Polk Momo components.

This is a process in the making!

I've had several systems in the past: Soundstream Reference amps back in the day, Kicker L7's, Phoenix Gold line drivers (which kick ***!) Kenwood in dash DVD players, Clarion head units, Pioneer head units as well. Yep, I might have experience in most manufacturers! LOL

Anyone on here a member of ls2gto.com?

If so, give me a rev on there!

If you really want to impress the people here, you'll need to mount a pair of 12" subwoofers on a pair of inflatable pants.

Any kind will do, khaki's, blue jeans...anything...

I belong to ls1gto.com(same forum). I just recently got rid of my goat. Had a decent setup in it. Since you are only using an 8" sub I suggest you try to get them into the side panels in the rear seating area. Getting good output from an 8 through a goats trunk would prove to be tricky. Unless that is what you meant by rear of course. I had a 12" mag in my trunk housed in a fiberglass enclosure I built to pocket into a corner. I removed the stock subs and left the opening and just stuff a bit of egg crate foam over the holes to attenuate the fuel pump noise but allow the bass to come through to the cabin. It worked fairly well. good luck mang.

Yep, I am installing them in the rear panels, using a box from subthump.com. I may use an alternate 8in, but so far, i am leaning towards the L7.

i'd get the JL 8W7, Kicker will give you no SQ, just pure nasty bass. and the 8W7 is a awesome sub, here is a vid of it in action. and throw it in a built ported box, and you'd be jamming in no time.

L7s don't have nasty bass, they arent going to sound like a mag or anything, but they dont sound bad.

Another L7 steretype. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Yeah, I agree. The L7's have always had a special place in my heart, thats why i want to use one in this system. I'm real loyal when it comes to things that I have had success with in the past.

not a stereotype, just the truth, kicker subs are meant for spl, not sq. not saying they sound like shit, but if you want hardcore nasty (as in holy shit) bass, then kicker is where its at.

Where's tracey to come in and comment on how Kicker subs have won some prestigeous SQ competitions?

And then I stop in and mention that's not real-world because SQ competitions are held to 126db's or less where most subs could perform well.

Then several more people argue about cone shapes, excursion and what-not.

Finally it only ends when the OP announces what sub he's buying and everyone slinks away, just so this same arguement can be perpetuated again in the next thread by many of the same people.

Did I miss any major steps in the L7's are SPL only arguement?

kickers dont sound as good cause sound waves arent square //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
