new cd playter installation

i have a 95 ford thunderbird.. i assuming i can get out the original cassette am/fm radio from the car with a homemade radio removal tool... sticking in a clotheshanger into the four holes on each end of the unit...

not sure which cd player i want to get, im looking at a jensen hd5112 or a hd 5212.

so do i need to get a wiring harness for a 95 ford?

will any installation kit work?

will the harness i buy make all the connections between all the old wiring and old connections to the back of the new cd player, power,antenna, etc? just connecting plugs together to the old wires then connecting the harness to the back of the new cd player...

will i have to do any wire cutting and splicing or is the wiring harness going to make all the connections for me without cutting?

not going to add any speakers , going to use the ones already installed with vehicle

Get the Ford Keys from Best Buy, pull the radio out, then return the keys within 30 days...saves time and no lost money.

Get the deck out before you buy the harness. There are two different ones for that car. When you buy the harness all the colors will match up with the harness that comes with the deck. You will have to crimp the wires together (easy) but getting that harness will make it SO much easier.

If it is the amplified system then you can get the bypass harness which will come with the harness you need for the back of the deck and also the harness you need to bypass the amp (again really easy). You don't need to bypass the amp but they like to go out after you add an aftermarket deck.

ok, pretty easy just match up the colored wires from the harness to the receiver wires and crimp...

so the stock radio/cassette from the 95 ford will have an amplifier already installed.. one that came with the car?

explain the bypass harness, it comes with the harness i buy, right? im not sure on the bypass harness and amp so can you fill me in a bit more ... a newbie to setting up own car stereo. ill guess ill know more when i get the harness..

how do i tell if it has one or not?? how do i exactly bypass the amp? is it one of the connections from the ford that i dont plug into the harness? if so what connections do i look for and if not, explain a bit more...

also depending on where you live take the car to a stereo shop and they will let you use their removal keys

got a kenwood kdc- x492 and im looking at the harness that came with the unit and connects to the headunit

i have a few questions on some of the wires...

my ford thunderbird does not have a power antenna, it doesnt raise or lower, its just a stationary mast antenna.. no factory amp involved

i m not using bluetooth ready capability

these are the wires:

power control/motor antenna control wire (blue/white) labeled: P. cont

tel mute wire brown labeled: mute

motor antenna control wire blue labled: ant. cont

dimmer control wire (orange/white) labeled: illimi

do i still match up these wires with the wire harness that connects to the car, or leave disconnected?

im thinking if i dont have a power antenna that i dont crimp the P. cont and ant. cont to the wiring harness that connects to the vehicle? right, wrong or just connect all the same colored wires no matter what i have?

im pretty sure i crimp the dimmer control?
